WASSAN is a network-based organisation focusing on improving the quality of mainstream programs in natural resources management and livelihoods. It engages actively in policy advocacy initiatives at state and national level mainly related to rainfed agriculture. It also provides field level support services to a large number of watershed development and other programs implemented by the civil society in partnership with communities. Currently, WASSAN has around 300 employees spread in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha and Jharkhand.

Junior Technical Expert

About Role:

The Migration Multi-Partner Trust Fund – Joint Programme (MMPTF-JP) initiative aims to enhance the resilience of vulnerable rural households to climate change in areas prone to climate-induced migration. The goal is to make migration an informed choice rather than a necessity, by strengthening the livelihoods and adaptive capacities of rural populations.

To achieve this, the program focuses on three key dimensions:

• Strengthening the capacity of rural households to build resilient and sustainable livelihoods that can withstand climate stresses and shocks.
• Empowering individuals and families to make informed, voluntary, and safe migration decisions.
• Improving policy and program coherence through strengthened capacities of key stakeholders, enhanced multi-sectoral coordination, and effective policy dialogue in the domains of migration, agriculture, and climate change.

Key Responsibilities:

 

● Support the planning and implementation of project interventions related to climate-resilient livelihoods and migration.

● Provide technical and field-level support to community-based activities focused on climate adaptation and livelihood enhancement.

● Facilitate capacity-building sessions for community members and local institutions.

● Conduct field visits, monitor ongoing activities, and support documentation and reporting.

● Assist in collecting, analyzing, and presenting data related to climate stress, migration patterns, and livelihood outcomes.

● Coordinate with project partners, government departments, and community-based organizations to ensure smooth execution of project activities.

● Support in organizing community consultations, awareness campaigns, and training events.

● Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the Project Lead and contribute to donor reports.

● Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to the development of technical tools, IEC materials, and knowledge products.

Required Qualifications and Experience

● Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in rural development, climate resilience, livelihoods, or related sectors.
● Graduate degree in agriculture, rural development, social sciences, environmental science, or a related field (post-graduate preferred).
● Fluency in Telugu, English, and Hindi is essential.
● Ability and willingness to relocate to Nizamabad and undertake extensive travel within the district.
● Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
● Experience working with rural communities and multi-stakeholder projects will be preferred.

Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated and organized Program Associate to join our team to play a key role in facilitating effective communication, coordination, and administrative tasks within IG. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to provide support and ensure the successful completion of tasks.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Coordination and Communication:

  • Assist the ground team in lead conversion by managing follow-ups and communication with VLEs and innovators.
  • Co-handle technical and business training programs on the ground.
  • Gather and update problem statements from field operations and coordinate with the team for resolution.
  • Maintain and update relevant trackers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating team events, gathering vendor details, and other project-related inputs.

Documentation and Records:

  • Support grant disbursements (fellowships) & documentation for the VLEs
  • Support MOUs and contract developments with the ground partners for VLE network
  • Maintain a comprehensive register of project-related information, bills, and expenses.
  • Organize and manage project files, ensuring accessibility and proper documentation.
  • Keeping records of Project Implementation, project assets management

Task Management:

  • Collaborate with internal team to complete assigned tasks within specified timelines.
  • Coordinate with the accounts team, ensuring seamless communication and prompt follow-up.
  • Support all the payment related activities to any associated vendors or partners.
  • Provide necessary information to the accounts team for accurate billing and financial records.
  • Coordinating with accounts team and donors for required process and documentation for grant releases.

Desired Qualifications / Expertise:

Candidates should have completed Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Agricultural Engineering
0-2 years of experience in project coordination, administration, or related roles.
Experience working with rural entrepreneurs, community programs, or NGOs will be an added advantage.
Candidates with strong communication, administrative and stakeholder management skills.
Familiarity with MS Office Suite, Google Workspace, project management tools/software is a plus.
Ability to effectively use and communicate in multiple languages.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and technically adept individual to lead our Village Entrepreneurs Network and bolster our innovation ecosystem. This role involves scouting innovations, evaluating technical feasibility, and engaging stakeholders to support solution deployment. You’ll work closely with field teams, innovators, and domain experts, acting as a vital link between grassroots needs and innovation pipelines.

Key Responsibilities
1. Scouting & Onboarding

  • Support landscape studies, VLE outreach, and knowledge-sharing activities in collaboration with innovators.
  • Understand the problem statements from the Field team to identify and curate the relevant technology providers.
  • Build and manage relationships with innovation hubs, accelerators, incubators, academic institutions, and industry experts.
  • Participate in various events to outreach VLEs and innovators and facilitate conversations between these two networks.
  • Enable knowledge exchange and collaborative opportunities that support solution development and scaling.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of shortlisted innovators into the innovation pipeline.
  • Facilitate lead conversions by managing follow-ups and communication with VLEs and innovators.
  • Co-handle technical and business training programs on the ground.

2. Technical Feasibility Assessment

  • Evaluate emerging startups, innovations, and technologies aligned with organizational goals and as per the assessment of the upcoming problem statements.
  • Conduct preliminary assessments to validate the technical and operational feasibility of proposed innovations.
  • Collaborate with internal domain experts to ensure alignment with technical standards and field requirements as per the problem statements captured from the ground.

3. Administrative / Support

  • Support Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) and innovators with pricing, quotation preparation, and technical clarifications.
  • Support admin team to maintain a database of scouted VLEs and innovations and their status.

Desired Qualifications / Expertise:

  • Master’s in Farm Machinery and Power or B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–2 years of experience in innovation scouting, technical fieldwork, or similar domains.
  • Strong understanding of rural innovation ecosystems and regional livelihoods.
  • Ability to assess technical innovations and communicate insights across diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven skills in coordination, stakeholder engagement, and administration.
  • Prior experience working with rural entrepreneurs, community programs, or NGOs is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel extensively—up to 60% of the time.
