WASSAN (Watershed Support Services and Activities Network) is a prominent non-profit organization committed to fostering economic prosperity alongside ecological security for communities in rainfed regions across India. Since its inception in 1999 and based in Hyderabad, WASSAN has worked intensively in four states and engages extensively through networks in another ten states.
With an annual turnover of approximately INR 40 crores and a dedicated team of over 400 staffs across various locations, WASSAN implements impactful programs focused on natural resource management, rainfed agriculture, and agroecological transformation.
As a network-based organization, WASSAN strives to enhance the quality of mainstream programs in natural resources management and sustainable livelihoods. It plays an active role in policy advocacy at both state and national levels, particularly in the domain of rainfed agriculture. In addition, it offers field-level support services to a wide range of watershed development and livelihood initiatives implemented by civil society organizations in partnership with local communities. Currently, WASSAN has around 400 staffs across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, New Delhi and Jharkhand.

Period of Contract:
The contract will be for a period of 1.5 years, renewable for another year subject to satisfactory performance and project period extension. The engagement can be cancelled/terminated for any non-performance in duties, misconduct, or without assigning any reason thereof.

Desired Candidate Profile :
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/MBA Finance/M.Com/MFC/CA (Inter)/ICWAI (Inter).
• Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience is mandatory.

• Be very energetic and must be willing to work extra hours and on holidays.
• Proficiency in using MS Office, particularly Excel and accounting software.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially writing of the proceeding, Note Sheet and relevant drafting skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

• Work experience in NGO/any development sector/Govt. sector or Govt. project will be preferred.
• Have experience of handling audits of projects, preparing balance sheets, so on and so forth.
• Not have any complaints against him by Government, Civil Society, Community organisations or Private agencies.
Job Description / Responsibilities:
• Coordinate with and train the partner NGOs on the financial norms and compliances.
• Coordinate and manage program-related data and MIS for the project at district level.
• Verify the MPRs of NGOs involved in the project
• Carry out daily accounting tasks and ensure efficient payments and disbursements according to the organization’s policy.
• Ensuring timely payments of vendors, training partners, staff, resource persons, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare and process invoices, reports, and other financial documents.
• Support the administrative team by performing general office duties such as answering phone calls, maintaining stock records, and managing correspondence.
• Organize and maintain filing systems, both physical and electronic, ensuring documents are easily accessible.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and coordination across the organization. Provide administrative support services as required and assigned.
• Deductions shall be applicable as per the organization’s norms and tax laws of the country.

Role Summary:
The Finance Manager & Analyst will be a pivotal leader within the organization, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring stringent compliance with donor requirements, and providing in-depth financial analysis to guide strategic planning and efficient resource utilization. This role demands a strong blend of financial management expertise, analytical acumen, and a deep understanding of the non-profit sector’s unique financial landscape in India.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management & Oversight (60%):
o Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the annual budget preparation process in collaboration with program and team leads.
o Develop robust financial forecasts, cash flow projections, and variance analyses.
oMonitor budget adherence, identify deviations, and provide timely recommendations for corrective action.
2. Financial Reporting & Analysis:
o Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual project related financial statements
o Generate insightful financial reports for the Executive Secretary, Board, donors, and other stakeholders, including budget vs. actuals, project-wise financial performance, and cost efficiency analyses.
o Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, informing strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
o Present financial data clearly and concisely to non-financial audiences.
3. Grant & Donor Financial Management:
o Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of funds received from various donors (domestic and international).
o Monitor grant utilization against approved budgets and donor-specific financial guidelines.
o Support Team Leads in the preparation and submission of timely and accurate financial reports to donors as per contractual agreements.
o Support proposal development by providing accurate budget estimates and financial projections.
o Implement robust internal controls for asset safeguarding and utilization.

2. Financial Analysis & Strategic Support (40%): * Conduct in-depth cost analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and financial modelling for new projects and strategic initiatives.
* Provide financial insights to support organizational strategy, long-term planning, and sustainability efforts.
* Analyze financial trends and performance indicators to support the Executive Secretary and Board in strategic decision-making.
* Contribute to the development of financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and control.
Qualifications & Experience:
● Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) is highly preferred. B.Com/M.Com with an MBA (Finance) or equivalent professional qualification will also be considered, provided extensive relevant experience.
● Experience:
o Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in financial management; experience in a managerial role within the non-profit/development sector in India is preferable.
o Prior experience in managing turnover of about Rs.10 cr or above. Strong experience in budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow management, and grant financial management.
o Experience with financial analysis, modeling, and providing strategic financial insights.
● Knowledge & Skills:
o In-depth knowledge of accounting principles (Indian GAAP) and financial management best practices in the non-profit context.
o Proficiency in accounting software Tally ERP.
o Advanced Excel skills for data analysis, modelling, and reporting.
o Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
o Strong communication skills (written and verbal) in English and Hindi; knowledge of Telugu is preferable.
o High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and discretion.
o Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
o Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

About the Project:
The project aims to strengthen local circular economy through supporting village enterprises and farmers’ institutions that provide critical backward and forward linkages for transition to Natural Farming and increase in farm incomes across three clusters in Satya Sai and Annamayya districts of Andhra Pradesh. The project scope includes eight themes, all which are centred in a Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) in the given cluster- establishing local seed system, bio-input enterprises, agriculture service centres, develop local commodity and fresh produce value chain, establish village enterprises in post -harvest management and primary processing, PGS organic certification and supporting FPOs.

Job description:
1. Coordinate with Thematic anchors and experts to ensure theme-wise Action plans are prepared (and updated) regularly.
2. Ensure action plans are robust and complete and are linked to theme-wise expenditure plans.
3. Ensure activities in each theme align to the overall project and organizational objective for the region.
4. Ensure clear SOPs are prepared and shared by experts in each theme.
5. Ensure team has relevant capacities and adhere to SOPs.
6. Responsible for overall financial planning, control and monitoring.
7. Responsible for preparation and consolidation of quarterly and monthly budgets.
8. Responsible for ensuring the thematic teams deliver commitments with respect to physical and financial achievements – immediately flag delays and work with teams to expedite progress.
9. Follow up with program, project support and Accounts team to ensure timely and proper submission and clearance of bills, payments as per best practices and organization norms.
10. Responsible for ensuring proper Project Communications covering project activities, achievements, impact, lessons; prepare reports and case studies as required.
11. Coordinate with illustrators, designers, video-makers for preparing relevant communication material and handle social media for the project.
12. Has to ensure robust, transparent and timely updation of Project MIS, serving the purpose of reporting as well as internal review and decision-making.
13. Travel extensively to the field sites of project implementation to ensure process hygiene, accuracy of reporting and feedback from the community.
14. Conduct weekly, monthly meetings and maintain the progress tracker.
15. Ensure all donor requirements with respect to reports, data, UCs, field visits and any others are met adequately and in time.
16. Assume greater role in execution with respect to at least two themes- preferably business development for village enterprises and Farmers’ institutions.

1. Candidates should have completed Post Graduation in one of the following disciplines- Business – Rural Management, Agri-Business Management, Social Sciences, Agriculture, Agriculture Economics or B-tech from reputed institutions.

The Cotton Farming Specialist will address critical challenges in cotton farming in Bhamini Mandal, Seethampet-Manyam, a tribal district heavily reliant on chemical inputs. The role focuses on promoting sustainable agricultural practices, reducing environmental and health risks, and improving farmers’ economic stability amidst climate change challenges. Documenting and dispersing knowledge related to diverse landraces available to farmers, to promote these varieties in the natural farming and reviving Agri biodiversity.

The Project Coordinator will be-
1. Planning, monitoring, capacity building and implementation of the project.
2. Coordination with multiple stakeholders like Farmers and Govt departments.
3. Working with the partners associated with WSASSN.
